QC Technician
This position has a primary responsibility to audit all work instruction procedures at our Akron facility and to ensure that consistent quality and performance standards are adhered to for all products produced. The technician is required to test blends produced against standard BOM specifications using accepted QC test methods. He/she will be responsible for the release of finished goods on a daily basis and has the authority to place products on hold if quality criteria are not met and/or stop productsion until the problem is rectified. This individual must possess excellent interpersonal and decision making skills in this role. The QC Technician will also be responsible for entering and maintaining the database/filing system where these records will be kept on a daily basis. Occasional overtime may be required as dictated by production needs.
Major Duties:
- Performs all identified requirements relative to Quality Control and Quality Assurance to ascertain a satisfactory product is being produced and shipped. Coordinates work in this regard with manufacturing/packaging/shipping, as well as departmental supervisor and other department personnel.
- Adheres to and identifies improvement areas for quality control procedures and parameters to be met for on-line production and finished goods.
- Responsible for implementation, documentation, and record keeping of quality control inspection/releases, including incoming raw materials as defined in Quality System, blends/batches, in-process goods and long-term testing (Finished Goods).
- Evaluates performance of competitive products and informs on results of such evaluations.
- Participates in evaluation of returned material and customer complaints regarding our products.
- Performs non-routine tasks related to quality control and technical development and evaluation, as needed.
- Answers technical questions and requests from internal personnel and current or potential customers, as required.
- Additional responsibilities in accordance with Quality Management Documentation, including the responsibility matrix and associated documents, e.g., work instruction, guidelines, etc.
- Complete all projects and assignments to the best of your ability based on established procedures and recordkeeping practices.
- Process excess or expired materials expediently, and within company guidelines and procedures.
- Maintain a high level of work area cleanliness and organization in accordance with “5-S” philosophy, including completion of assigned audits.
Job Qualifications:
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal personnel, verbally and written.
- Ability to work in a chemical manufacturing environment involving isocyanates, solvents, and other hazardous materials requiring fitness for respirator use. Physical ability to handle containers and equipment necessary to perform duties.
- Knowledge and proficiency of computer software and hardware sufficient to perform job.
- Experience in QC / QA as an inspector.
- Experience in and knowledge of various areas of responsibility in order to perform job duties.
- Ability to occasionally lift weights up to 50 lbs. and perform other necessary physical requirements in performance of regular job duties.
- Willingness to travel as required for job.
