Working Smart Just Got Easier
Fomo Products, Inc. launches distributor campaign on best practices

Norton, Ohio – Aug. 3, 2010 – Fomo Products, Inc., a manufacturer of low pressure spray polyurethane foam (SPF), recently kicked off its distributor outreach Work Smart campaign. The program is geared toward educating distributors on the latest weatherization applications, low pressure SPF products and proper health and safety guidelines.

“Fomo is committed to customer service, and that includes making sure our distributors are aware of the latest applications and trends in the industry to better inform and sell to their customers,” says Sara Jonas, senior manager – marketing, Fomo Products, Inc. “The Work Smart program is geared toward distributor education on new applications that are significantly changing the remodeling market and the latest precautions in health and safety guidelines for low pressure spray foam.”

Working Smart with Weatherization

More and more homeowners are becoming aware of government incentives, like the proposed Home Star legislation and local utility incentives, for energy efficiency improvements and are asking contractors how they can take advantage of these programs. The weatherization market is growing exponentially, with low pressure spray foam at the center of several residential applications.

With a quick flash of low pressure spray foam, contractors can stop air infiltration in several spots in a home including attics, crawlspaces and rim joists. Using foam to seal around the gaps, cracks and pipe and wire penetrations will create an air barrier and increase energy efficiency.
Fomo’s low pressure SPF kits are easy to use, with no additional equipment necessary. The small two-component kits are also easy to transport and fit in tight spaces, like crawlspaces and attics, where larger spray foam rigs won’t fit.

The Business of Working Smart

Contractors entering the weatherization market are looking for simple ways to incorporate new applications into their existing services. Fomo’s low pressure SPF kits are an easy way to sell weatherization to this new audience, with little training necessary and the ability to apply the product with only one laborer. Incorporating low pressure spray foam into a business model is a cost-effective approach to entering a growing market.

In addition to the new weatherization applications, the Work Smart program also features the latest information on health and safety guidelines for using low pressure SPF, including the proper protective equipment (PPE). With new contractors taking advantage of the benefits of low pressure SPF along with industry updates to health and safety guidelines, it’s imperative that contractors are aware of proper use and placing this knowledge into practice. For many distributors, this is also an opportunity to provide additional safety equipment, such as nitrile gloves, protective eyewear and respirators, to those purchasing low pressure spray foam.

 Work Smart Outreach

As part of the Work Smart program launch, Fomo created a video featuring accredited Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certified Building Analyst Tim Kenworthy, department manager of the refill technologies group at Fomo. The video, available on Fomo’s new Work Smart webpage, walks audiences through weatherization applications, Fomo’s Handi-brand™ product line and the proper health and safety guidelines for applying low pressure SPF.
Distributors are also receiving Work Smart toolkits that include t-shirts, buttons, hats and an educational certified distributor handbook, as well as updated store signage and displays. Fomo representatives will be visiting distributors personally to review Work Smart materials and products. Additionally, distributors and contractors will also be receiving monthly educational direct mail materials containing helpful tips, the latest weatherization news and more.
