R & D Labratory Technician
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Compounding, Physical Property Testing & Data Collection
Primary responsibilities are to compound/prepare samples, conduct testing, and collect data in the research and formulation one and two component polyurethane foams.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Testing of one and two component foams at the R &D stage.
- Data acquisition, recordkeeping, filing, and organization of related materials, electronic or otherwise.
- Knowledge of and adherence to all requirements of the company quality system.
- Maintain chemical storage, including lab environment, in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Evaluation of alternative raw materials in regards to cost, quality and suitability.
- Maintain work stations, Research & Development equipment and all areas utilized by lab, along with other relevant individuals. Duties as required or directed as necessary for achieving overall company goals.
- Complete assignment to the best of your ability based on established procedures and record keeping.
- Understand the scope of projects and expectations.
- Maintain a legible, signed and documented laboratory notebook so as to protect and ensure any and all patentable advances in technology.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal personnel, verbally and written.
- Ability to work in a chemical manufacturing environment involving isocyanates, solvents, and other hazardous materials requiring fitness for respirator use. Physical ability to handle containers and equipment necessary to perform duties.
- Knowledge and proficiency of computer software and hardware sufficient to perform the job.
- Ability to occasionally lift weights up to 50 lbs. and perform other necessary physical requirements in performance of regular job duties.
