FOMO’S PRODUCTS USED IN THE RESORATION OF THE SPRINGFIELD ARMORY

NORTON, OHIO - May, 2006 – Handi-Seal® Window and Door Sealant and Handi-Foam® Spray Foam were used in the window restoration, removal and replacement at the Springfield Armory located in Springfield, MA. The Springfield Armory began manufacturing muskets in 1794. It was closed as an active Armory in 1968 and reopened in 1978 as the Springfield Armory National Historic Site. The Armory houses the world’s largest collection of American Military Firearms and also functions, in the original buildings, as Springfield Technical Community College.

Due to the Armory’s age, it is undergoing necessary exterior restorations. One of the key restorations taking place is the replacement of old wood windows with modern energy efficient windows. The void between the window frame and walls are being filled with Handi-Seal® Window and Door Sealant. The use of Handi-Seal® Window and Door Sealant is allowing the applicator to place a precisely controlled amount of foam into the gap. For larger gaps on the exterior of the building, Handi-Foam® Spray Foam is applied. By using Handi-Foam® Spray Foam, the Armory is eliminating air infiltration, thus becoming much more energy efficient.
