Fomo Employees Receive EPA Lead-Safe Certification
NORTON, Ohio – May 25, 2011 – Fomo Products, Inc., a manufacturer of low pressure spray polyurethane foam (SPF), and several employees of its refill technologies group, have received lead-safe certification from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This certification allows qualified employees to conduct renovations and repairs in homes and businesses built prior to 1978, which have a higher incidence of lead paint usage.
Recently, an EPA rule went into effect requiring the use of lead-safe work practices aimed at preventing lead poisoning in children. The regulations maintain that firms performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified. Individual renovators must be trained by an EPA-accredited training provider, and the firms and renovators must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.
“To best serve the needs of our distributors and customers, it’s important that our teams undergo the same training and employ the same best-practices our customers and distributors do,” says Tim Kenworthy, department manager, Refill Technologies Group. “This certification not only allows our teams to complete trainings and demos in properties built prior to 1978, but it allows us to understand the requirements faced by our customer and distributor base and offers one more way to maintain our position as an industry leader.”
The certification process included an eight-hour training course with in-class and in-field components from an EPA-approved training provider, as well as a written accreditation test. Employees receiving the accreditation include, Derrick Hyde, technical training and support associate; Jeff Moore, technical training and support associate; and Tim Shoemaker, tech support field manager.
